bronze horses are copies of the originals kept indoors. They have
belonged to many emperors. Created during the time of Alexander the
Great, they were taken to Rome by Nero. Constantine moved them to
Istanbul; the Venetians stole them from there. Napoleon took them to
Paris in 1797, and they were returned to Venice when Napoleon’s Empire
fell. |
Questi
cavalli di bronzo sono le copie degli originali teneuti all’interno.
Sono appartenuti a molti imperatori. Creati durante il tempo di
Alessandro il Grande, erano portati a Roma da Nerone. Constantine li ha
fatti trasportare a Istanbul; i veneziani li hanno rubati da lí.
Napoleone li portò a Parigi nel 1797, e erano ritornati a
Venezia quando l'impero di Napoleone cadde. |
