As we walked toward the Cathedral, we passed “Il Campo” the central square of Siena and the Torre del Mangia (Tower of the Eating), the 100-meter-tall tower of the City Hall. The Tower was named after a fat, sleepy city employee, whose nickname was Mangiaguadagni (“eat the profits”).

Camminando verso la Cattedrale, abbiamo passato «Il Campo,» la piazza centrale di Siena e la Torre del Mangia, la torre alta 100 metri del Palazzo Publico. La torre è così chiamata per un impiegato di città grasso e addormentato, soprannominato era Mangiaguadagni («mangia i profitti»).
